Who Is NY VOTE?
We are a coalition of community groups & labor unions organizing in communities across New York City. WE BELIEVE in mobilizing our communities’ voting power to support progressive policies that benefit low-income communities, communities of color, and workers. WE BELIEVE in using our collective power to hold politicians accountable to our priority issues. WE BELIEVE our city can and must reflect our values to SHARE THE WEALTH, RESPECT THE WORKERS, and LEAD with FAIRNESS & EQUALITY.
The NY VOTE coalition includes Make The Road By Walking in Bushwick, Families United for Racial and Economic Equality in Brooklyn, The Latin American Integration Center in Queens, Mothers On the Move in the Bronx, The New York City Aids Housing Network, The Northwest Bronx Community Clergy Coalition, The NY Civic Participation Project, NY Jobs With Justice, The United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1500, The Professional Staff Congress at CUNY, & the Transport Workers Union Local 100.

Our Progressive Solutions
Economic Development
- Support development that results in living & prevailing wage jobs, local hiring, training & apprenticeship opportunities, and union jobs
- Ensure that people receiving public assistance have access to education, training, and income support that will give them the opportunity to exit poverty
- Support development that meets community needs like schools, parks, affordable housing, and childcare
- Ensure that community benefits agreements are required for all developments/companies that receive public money
Schools, Public Services, and Housing
- Redirect State & Local funding to improve our schools
- Ensure that all public services offices (welfare, Medicaid, education, hospitals, housing assistance) have adequate translation so that they are accessible to all NY residents
- Invest in the building of 100,000 truly affordable housing units and supportive housing for people living with HIV/AIDS
- Increase funding to meet the overwhelming demand for regulated child care regardless of age and ensure that single parents have access to subsidized childcare
Workers' Rights
- Guarantee prevailing wage for all publicly financed projects
- Increased apprenticeship opportunities for people of color and women
- Ensure that all New York workers have the right to organize for higher wages, job security, job safety and healthcare
- Ensure that businesses pay New York's minimum wage
Health Care
- Ensure that all New Yorkers in the prison system have access to quality healthcare, including HIV and HCV prevention
- Ensure that employers provide quality healthcare to all their workers
Immigrants Rights
- Ensure access to driver's licenses regardless of immigration status
- Ensure that immigration status is not shared in any federal database
- New York State should not enroll in the Real ID program
Civil Rights
- Create a public relations campaign that educates all New Yorkers, including formerly incarcerated individuals, about their right to vote
- Expand the right to vote to New Yorkers in prison and upon discharge
